If you want to make custom hoodies for more than one person, is probably a good idea to order them online.  This will ensure that all of the sweaters will look the same which may be hard to do on your own saving you a lot of time.  You can also get custom sweaters online in bulk which is great for schools or sports teams.  There are some downfalls to designing your own hoodie online though.  One downfall is that you are limited on the sweater that you can choose.  If you want to have a certain color, a store online may or may not have it available.  This is especially true if you want to have a special design or pattern on the fabric of your hoodie.  You may also be limited how many colors you can have or where you can place images or designs.  For most people who don’t have the materials at home to make and design their own hoodie, ordering one online is still the easiest way of getting a custom hoodie.

When choosing to design your own hoodie at home, there are a few materials you are going to need depending on what you are planning to put onto your hoodie.  The main ways of making a custom hoodie are using airbrushing which is difficult for many people or by using photo transfer paper.  Silk screening may or may not work depending on which material you have chosen.  If your sweater material is fuzzy on the inside, the silk screening paint may stick and dry on the inside causing your sweater to be very uncomfortable.

When airbrushing your hoodie, you can completely cover the fabric with a smooth picture or design that, if done right, looks like it is professionally done by an artist.  These are great to do a portrait of someone with because you can make the images look so real they almost pop off the material.  To airbrush a hoodie yourself you will need to purchase an airbrush and all the needed materials.  If you are lucky, you might be able to find someone who already owns an airbrush with plenty of experience willing to do it for you.  Airbrushing can be a difficult task but it will make your custom designed hoodie really stand out.

If you do not want to purchase an airbrush or are not able to find someone with one, you can use photo transfer paper to design your own hoodie.  This is paper that allows you to print off any image than apply it, using an iron onto your fabric.  These are great because they are very simple to use and require very little time to do.  You just need to have an image that you want to out onto your hoodie, photo transfer paper and a printer.  You want to flip the image horizontally using a photo editing software before printing as the image will be backwards if you do not.  Once you print the picture, all you have to do is iron it onto your hoodie and wait till it is completely cooled to remove the paper backing.  What is left is your image applied onto your hoodie.  This is a great simple way to customize any hoodie or t-shirt with a few minutes time.
