The process of transferring a photograph onto a t-shirt is really quite simple. It can be done at home and requires the following:
You can put any image onto your t-shirt whether it is a photograph or just an image. You want to flip the picture that is going to be printed because when you apply the picture to the t-shirt, it is going to have to be face down. Most simple photo editing software will be able to flip or reverse the picture for you before you print. Once you have this, you are going to want to make sure the resolution is 72 to150 BPI or bits per inch which is how much color is packed into each square inch. If you go too far above 150 although you may think it is going to look clearer, the colors will be too dense and start to blend together making the image muddy and unclear. Making sure your image is the right direction, flipped over horizontally, and the right resolution, it is time to print. You want to load your t-shirt transfer paper into the printer making sure the ink will print on the right side. Once printed, it is time to transfer the image onto a t-shirt. You are going to need the iron for this step and it is a good idea to make sure that there is no water in the iron which will produce steam and ruin the transfer. The iron should be set on the highest cotton temperature and once it is completely heated up you are ready to transfer the image. Start by ironing both the t-shirt and the pillowcase you are going to be using. The pillowcase is placed underneath your t-shirt ensuring that both are perfectly flat, and the image is placed on top ink side down. You want to completely iron the photo for about three minutes making sure to always keep the iron moving. It is good to keep steady pressure on the picture the whole time you are ironing. Once you have made sure that all areas of the image have been ironed, let it completely cool before peeling off the paper. What is left behind will be your photo t-shirt. If any areas of the picture stick to the paper when you try to lift it off, you have not heated it enough and should reheat completely using the iron and making sure to use pressure.
